Guado al Tasso
(Bolgheri)
The estate of Guado al Tasso is owned by the Antinori family. No other business has a comparably big acreage. The wine estate is situated in the middle of their climates. There is a shop where you can buy their own wines of the Bolgheri estate and other Antinori wines, and also sausage and cheese. Unfortunately there was no chance of a degustation, despite a notice in advance. The top wine of the estate is the Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Rosso Superiore which is rated as one of the most famous Bolgharis and at the same time in price is clearly beneath the Sassicaia and Ornelleia - it costs about half as much.
Bottle Samples:

Il Bruciato Bolgheri Rosso 2005
50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Syrah and others.
Dark red. Aromas of forest berries, tobacco, liquorice, some tar. Very nice, dense Bolgheri - good value for money.
The second wine of Guado al Tasso. "Il Bruciato" means "The burnt one".
Not tasted on the wine estate, where it was sold out anyway, but bought several times at the wine shops of Bolgheri.
